www.hollywoodreporter.com: The International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600) held a candlelit walk and memorial Friday evening for Sarah Jones, the 27-year-old assistant camerawoman who was killed Feb. 20 while on location in Georgia.
Well over 500 participants -- Local 600 members, fellow union and guild members, and members of the production community -- gathered at DGA headquarters, and at 7 p.m. began walking to a memorial service at ICG's national offices, which is nearby on Sunset Blvd. Some carried signs that read "Never forget, never again."

While I agree that a job is not worth a life, there also also a few things that failed to be pointed out or recognized. First off, film sets and even theatre sets are much safer than they ever have been and will continue to become safer. CGI and special effects have made everything from stunts, location, and makeup/costumes safer and less deadly. What should be noted though is that plans should be in place when filming on tracks or in roads such as knowing train schedules or when traffic hour is. Also, workers should be able to speak up about feeling completely uncomfortable in situations such as that one. I understand doing things nervously especially if you had never done them before but it is the producer and director's job to make sure crew members are safe even when the set is potentially dangerous.
