Life as a freelancer with Lauren Delaney George
The Costume Cafe Podcast: I think the exciting thing about design for stage and film, or even making these tiny items that I sell, is that it's another form of storytelling."

First thing, I think it's super cool that Lauren Delaney George collects and sells miniatures! I love miniatures! I have a huge thing for dolls and just the entire world being turned into something so tiny! It's adorable and pretty! (I am a doll collector! But so far I only have Barbies... maybe I should just keep it with Barbies or else I'll be one of those creepy old ladies with those creepy houses filled with dolls and miniatures....)
I also really liked what she said about how clothing really shows the character of people. And I think that's so true and it's something that I tell people (well, my parents because I'm afraid of insulting anyone) all the time. People don't realize it, but the clothes that we choose to wear and like to wear tell a lot about how we see ourselves. I don't mean what clothes we have in our wardrobe because sometimes, they never leave the wardrobe. The clothes we wear outside (or inside!). Clothes tell us who a person is, how they see themselves, and what they think of others. It's fascinating, really how clothes can tell us so much!
looking around at her website, it was interesting to see how her sketched transferred to the actual costumes. Her sketched looked a bit cartoony, even a bit childlike, however, the finished projects look very impressive and intense. It makes me wonder how closely a designer works with the construction team in order to create the vision of the story.
