'La Boheme' surpasses lead singers' voices

Post Gazette: "It's a mark of a masterpiece that you can still enjoy a work even if the performance struggles at times. That's the spectacular level Puccini achieved with 'La Boheme,' which opened at the Benedum Center Saturday night with less-than-spectacular lead singing in an otherwise agreeable Pittsburgh Opera production."

Like the other article said, it was the orchestra that stole the show. It is interesting to see shows where the actors are not the star of the show. Theater is much more than just a performers. Many other people put just as much effort into the show. While I am not trying to be mean, the lack of powerful actors allows people to appreciate other parts of the show that they might not have seen before. Like the design, a transition, or even a single musical line.
