Kimmel Center Flooded By Sprinkler System

kyw.com: "The deluge system, which releases more water than a traditional sprinkler system, released the water around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Kimmel spokesman Paul Marrotta said. No fire was found and it was not immediately clear what caused the system to malfunction, he said."

That would just be the biggest headache EVER. I could not begin to think of the damage to the venue and the lost revenue as they wait for the seats to dry out. i know there are clean-up companies for things like this, but I wonder if the company that installed the deluge system will be held responsible. I’m sure some one will sue somebody over this.

That sounds just awful. I remember a time in high school when something malfunctioned and flooded everything in the science labs. Big mess, big expenses. You would think with all the trouble people have with systems like this malfunctioning, someone would come up with a solution by now.

My sister performed at the Kimmel Center a few years ago. I went on a tour of that facility with my family. The "smaller" theater has a full-stage turntable. The large concert hall is ALL polished mahogany with some of the most advanced acoustical engineering I have ever seen. This is seriously a shame to hear. It is pretty bad that they can build the entire building on rubber blocks to stop vibrations from the subway but they can't find a non-malfunctioning sprinkler system.
