St. Paul Pioneer Press: "This is a message to the folks who sat in row BB, seats 103 and 104, at the opening night of 'Love, Janis' in the McKnight Theatre at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.
Fortunately for me, I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing something like this during a live performance... movies on the other hand... Oh my god! Especially ones geared to a younger audience... like early twenties/teens... There's always those people who carry on during the movie... either commenting... laughing in a realy obnoxious manner (I swear it's on purpose...)... or my favorite... the horror movies where some dude makes a loud sound to scare whoever... but we all know... It's really him that's scared, and he's trying to release his own tension...
7th inning stretch? It's that intermission...without the terrible song?
amen....it seems to always be the case that the loudest person in the theatre is going to sit within a few seats of me and my family. it's insane...people have gotten to a point where, depending on the age of the crowd obviously, they have a complete lack of concern for the people around them trying to enjoy the show...it's like they think they're at home watching tv with no one aorund...its the smae in movies as well...its everywhere...no one knows how to just chill out and enjoy a show, or at least keep it down enough not the ruin the experience of someone else! goodness...shapeup.
I have...USED to have a friend who I eventually refused to sit next to in shows. Somehow she'd miss EVERYTHING that happened over the course of the play and lean over to ask me what had just happened every time the audience reacted. She also had the capacity to make as much noise as humanly possible with a packet of Skittles. Obnoxious beyond belief.
I CANNOT stand people who make noise during shows or movies. If people are continually talking, or aren't taking care of their kids (thats the worst, little 5 year olds running around while you're trying to watch a movie they're too young to see), I'm the bitchy one who asks them not-so-politely to stop making that noise or can you please watch your kid?
So irritating. They obviously didn't have my mother as a disciplinarian.
It's annoying when people aren't taught that maybe the people around you at a SHOW want to actually PAY ATTENTION to it. It's sad because sometimes it's not even their fault and they don't even realize that they're being completely inconsiderate and obnoxious. This article is the epitome of my childhood. Always embarrassed as my mother unwrapped candy while we sat in the first row of pews at church AND proceeded to ask those around her if they wanted any.. I guess looking at the bright side, at least she was polite and offered those around her some after they missed Ezikiel 25:17 and the prompt about BEING ON TIME FOR CCD..
as far as the announcements becoming background noise, ive found that (in some shows here at least) that if they are pre-recorded with a theme relating to the show (im thinking SideShow) or just a tone of voice not similar to that of a normal speaking tone, then people will be more interested in hearing it.
we could rig the audience seating with shock collars... err, nevermind...
