Italy increases arts spending

Variety.com: "Italy has upped arts funding 17% to a total Euros 441 million ($573 million) for 2007 in the first tangible sign of the center-left government's more pro-arts stance compared with the days when Silvio Berlusconi ran the country."

Glad to know this news. Italy is a country having the rich culture/art, like opera, music. But in comparison with other west European countries, Intalian government's effort in arts is much less.
These Eurpean counties have already formed an union. In many ways, there is no obvoius reason to compete with others. Probably, they turn into another kind of competition, achievements in culture in arts, in film etc. I'm dreaming...
