I think virtual reality could hold some promise as a form for entertainment. Of course it would probably develop into its own niche rather than being integrated into mainstream entertainment like television and movies, but I think the concept is still worthwhile to experiment with, especially since the idea is still in such infancy. The idea of experiencing a event or place and having 360 degrees of perceptible space is exciting, if captured accurately this could allow for user immersive experiences like no other. The idea is so intriguing because unlike any film or TV show, we aren’t all provided the same exact images to ponder and explore, but are free to move freely around the space and examine things we might have never normally noticed. This freedom would make each viewing unique unlike any previous ones adding a layer of immersion that only live entertainment has possessed up until now. Of course introducing virtual reality as its own form of entertainment will be hard, especially with their being no prior knowledge of how to capture it without revealing all of the lighting, and scenery tricks hidden by normal filming, but as such an interesting idea, its definitely well worth exploring.
