Miley Cyrus' Tongue Slide Leads to Lawsuit

Music News | Rolling Stone: Miley Cyrus' wagging tongue has become a sort of personal emblem for the pop star, but the appendage has now proved too much for one worker behind her Bangerz tour. According to TMZ, a man involved in the construction of a giant tongue slide prop has filed a lawsuit claiming he was injured on the job.

This article as a whole is pretty ridiculous. Its a simple law suit that has nothing to do with Miley Cyrus. Her tour just happens to be a major undertaking with some potential threats, but nobody seems to know that. I find it somewhat funny that the assistant constructor of the tongue slide Charles Nicholas Sarris was unaware of the potential dangers. The article fails to acknowledge the way in which the man was injured, but he somehow managed. Somewhat common sense that when your working with large scenic elements there is a common sense that things have the potential to be highly dangerous. Although the severity of the injury isn't indicated, this article is silly as a whole. People get injured all the time, its being aware of your surroundings and knowing how in interact with them while avoiding harm.

The slide is definitely an interesting design choice, and I wonder what about it caused the injuries to the worker. The away it was phrased makes it sound really interesting, stating that "the equipment and tools provided to him failed." That statement makes it sound very legal-y and also as though it isn't that severe. I wish that the article would be less vague about that. Also, like Keith said, I think that people should always be aware that there are dangers in jobs like these, and that they should be able to assess what they are themselves (but yes, the company should have given him some warning as well).

I can't stand people like this "Charles Nicholas Sarris" character. He is a classic example of someone who is exploiting the system...even if that system is Miley Cyrus. As much as I can't stand Miley and everything she chooses to be, I think it is still stupid for Sarris to be suing due to his own mistakes. I think accidents like this are purely that, accidents. Or in Sarris' case maybe they are premeditated incidents used to try and get money out of rich corporations. In either case I dont think Sarris should get any money for his stupidity...no matter how much I like and distrust the whole cyrus clan.

The structure of this article is very strange. The title gave the impression that it would be a law suit involving Miley Cyrus, but that is not the case at all. The details were very vague, but it seems like a pretty common thing, not really worthy of writing an article about. He isn't suing Miley Cyrus, he's suing the supply company.
Unrelated to that aspect of the article, this set is so strange. Even in the realm of Miley Cyrus, why would she opt to slide out of her own mouth?

This is actually a bit ridiculous, as some others have mentioned above. It is quite amazing to see what lengths some people will go to to ensure that they get their way. This Charles guys, like Albert corrects identifies, is a classic example of what is wrong with society today. This dude doesn't like what's happening in this show he's working for so he gets "hurt" and files a lawsuit to get some money. Everything that he claims happened sounds like total bull but nobody can really prove him right or wrong I suppose.

I have quite a few things to say about EVERYTHING. 1. How does the whole lawsuit thing work? Who does he file the report against? Miley Cyrus? Her crew members (if she has)? Who is he suing? 2. Who in their right mind designed this looney design!? It's so stupid! I understand, it's a job and if that's what the client wants, but come on!!!! Someone came up with that design, someone assisted on it. Someone approved the drawings, someone built this... there were so many times when someone could have said "Wait, stop, what the hell are we building, this is ridiculous!" Miley needs to learn her manners and get that tongue of hers back in her mouth!

With injuries like this one that claim that the cause was that, "the equipment and tools provided to him failed" it really makes me wonder whether this is the case or was it just a simple user error that caused Mr. Sarris's injury. The whole thing that he is trying to do sounds a lot to me like an exploitation of ShowFX and makes me quite angry. Since when was it a requirement to be warned about simple errors like this one. How short of a time has he been in the business that he still needs to be told all of the possible injuries that can occur to him. It should just be inferred that you are in a high risk environment, don't be an idiot.

It’s a shame that this incident only came to light because it has to do with Miley Cyrus. Not that I particularly care about Miley’s bad press, but it’s also unfair to her that this incident is connected with her in the media. This incident was not her fault at all, and really has nothing to do with her at all. The shop that built the unit is the one to blame. Unfortunately, it’s only news because it’s a shop built for a celeb that the media loves.

Although this article did not turn out to be about the questionable scenic design decisions of making Miley's tongue a massive slide, it is still slightly interesting. I question the motives behind Mr. Sarris' lawsuit. I would hope that he is not exploiting the resources of such a high profile tour in order to get an easy settlement. That being said, the rights and safety of on-the-job techs need to be respected.

This is hysterical! First off, I would never have expected this to be a topic on the green page. Like many others the tongue was just a slide. That is all. This also continues to prove the theory I'm calling the Miley Cyrus effect. This is that you don't care what you have to do (no matter how inappropriate it might be) to be at the center of attention. All Miley wants is attention, and nothing else. To be honest, I think she is achieving what she wants.
