TheGloss - A gloss on beauty, fashion, style, love and more: "Since this is a fashion and beauty website let’s talk about why so-called empowered “warrior women” are always dressed like like they’re about to trot down the main stage at Scores.
Because one point this horrible, wretched movie (which I am in no way judging) made well was when one of the characters jumped up and said “Don’t you get it? All of this is to turn guys on!”
Which, well, yes. Got that.

Alright so I think that there is a point in here I agree with? Yes strong powerful women in movies are often dressed in clothes that are not always practical. I myself always wondered why Lara Croft doesnt wear more practical pants. And yes looking back the other examples of women in movies or shows they seem to be dressed in an 'appealing' way. But, I dont share the author's anger at this fact. I see it as most of the warrior women who are dressed as such are doing so because they are strong and it is because of their strength that they dress how they please and whether or not a man might like it does not matter. Or they could be using their sexuality to ensnare a man, for example Charlie's Angels. However, characters like Xena who was in fact a warrior princess dressed in a short skirt and fitted body armor, but no one could argue that she was a slut or doing it for a man. Or in 'Burlesque' which was not a very good movie but had good songs and good choreography and cool cotumes. Those women were in a burlesque show, but they were beautiful and talented and on their terms. Now I havent seen 'Sucker Punch' but these movies are made by people who know their audience, if the movie was with ugly girls in frumpy clothes, and the plot still sucking, then they would really have made a mistake. Im not saying its good to objectify women, but women who are portrayed as strong and powerful characters can dress any way they like.
