I am glad they are keeping around so many of the former team who worked with both Ailey and Jamison. Plus the new artistic director is named BATTLE, which means an already fierce dance company just got fiercer! But in all seriousness, I like the idea that they are bringing in someone from outside the company who has his own individuality in conjunction with already in place ideas and standards. This artistic team I hope will keep the company thriving since as the article noted, so many companies are no longer with us.

I'm so glad to hear that these two companies are continuing to find success in these troubled times. I used to do a lot more dance shows, as dance productions were a part of the season in my undergrad. I loved working with dancers--they are some of the toughest most hard working folks in the business. AND uber-disciplined. I'm glad that has paid off for Ailey and Taylor. I only know of a handful of touring dance companies, although I'm sure there are plenty, but these are two that I am loosely familiar with. With such great artistic leadership and a solid audience base, I can only hope that they continue to find success.
