First Photo of 'The Mimi' Award, Designed by Rockwell, Unveiled
(BroadwayWorld.com): "The Award, formally called ‘Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award,’ will be presented to its first recipient, Tony Kushner, at a ceremony on Tuesday, October 21, at 620 Loft & Garden at Rockefeller Center."

It took me a minute to realize that this award represents a lighting instrument with light coming out of it. I'm not sure I really like this design. It doesn't look solid and stable like an Oscar or an Emmy. It kind of looks like it could fall over and shatter at any moment, and it's not instantly recognizable. It will smudge really easily, too. I'm not sure that it really speaks to its purpose as a playwrting award. I think that Mr. Rockwell could have done much better.
