Carnegie Mellon University will celebrate the life of Professor Randy Pausch, who died July 25 at age 47, with a special memorial event at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 22 in Rangos Hall.
Most of the Carnegie Mellon community is aware of the high level of public interest in Randy following his famous lecture and publication of the bestselling book, "The Last Lecture." To ensure that his friends and close associates can attend the celebration in person, attendance in Rangos will be by invitation only.
To allow others to be part of this service, the university has arranged for the entire event to be streamed live on ABCNews.com.
The university is encouraging its schools and colleges to organize their own gatherings of students, faculty and staff to watch the webcast. Links to the webcast on ABCNews.com will be available at http://www.cmu.edu/randyslecture
Like the video of Randy's Sept. 18, 2007 lecture, video of the memorial service will be posted soon afterward on the Carnegie Mellon channels of YouTube and iTunesU, as well as http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/LastLecture
"Remembering Randy: A Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Randy Pausch" will include recollections and tributes from a number of Pausch's friends and colleagues.
Questions about the memorial celebration can be directed to randy-memorial@andrew.cmu.edu.
