What Does It Take to Pull Off the Gigantic Christmas With the Tabernacle Choir?

Playbill: The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square (previously known as The Mormon Tabernacle Choir) is an institution and an anomaly. There is no other choir in America of this size with as wide a reach for as many years. Approximately 360 singers perform a weekly international broadcast Music & the Spoken Word, the longest continuous broadcast on air that began in 1929.

The magic of theatre and performing arts in general is there is a factor of mystery lying underneath it all which is the unsolved question of “how did they do this?”. The absence of physical stage managers, directors, designers on stage but yet they are the ones participating in the outermost world of the show and orchestrating the production as it’s happening in real time. It's difficult to pull off a lot of things- putting together a short film for a school project comes with a set of it’s own anxiety, let alone running an entire production or in this case a christmas choir. Not only does this take lots of time and lots of people, but it also mainly takes up lots of money, which tends to be the leading issue for most cases. Having to talk to a giant room full of people who are already competing with their own voices and demand their attention is a very difficult thing to do that many people underestimate.
