San Diego Opera plans drive-in 'All Is Calm' film and live sing-along

The San Diego Union-Tribune: Fresh from the success of its drive-in “La bohème,” San Diego Opera has announced its second outdoor event of the season: a live sing-along holiday concert and screening of the company’s 2018 production of “All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914.”

What an interesting approach to deal with putting on a production in the midst of a pandemic. What I don't like is that the audience is limited to those who have a car, a lot of the people in New York do not have cars and it would be inequitable for all the people who don't have cars or cant afford them. When first reading the article, I though they were putting on a live production of "All is Calm" but i learned that they are simply doing a screening of a 2008 version of the show in addition to a live holiday sing along. At 100$ per carload and 150$ for premium seating, it is a very smart move of the San Diego Opera to present this film to support itself and stay afloat until live performance can come back again. They are lucky that they are operating out of the West coast in California, because they are able to have drive ins that are in good weather and where the patrons can leave there car and not freeze their asses off.
