'Burgh Vivant: 12 Peers Theater announces their sixth season featuring the continuing Modern Myths Podcast; Will Eno’s Thom Pain (based on nothing); Anne Washburn’s Mr. Burns, a post-electric play; a benefit performance of Nassim Soleimanpour’s White Rabbit, Red Rabbit; and Mythburgh, a new site-specific performance series.

Two of these shows - Thom Pain (based on nothing) and Mr. Burns, a post-electric play - were suggested to me by a friend, and I started reading them out a sense of duty to the friendship. But they stayed with me long after I read them that first due diligence time. Thom Pain is tricky, and I am surprise to see it included in a season. Aside from the fact that it is a one man show, it requires a particular kind of nuance, and - I would think - a particular kind of audience. But in light of the overarching theme of the season as whole, this selection does ultimately make sense. Mr. Burns is also a beguiling choice. When my friend suggested I read it, they also gave me a brief description of the plot. I thought they were lying. But it does force an interesting moment of introspection. We surely have myths now that have persevered as bizarrely as a Simpson's episode might, we just cannot see it right now.
