People tend to be fairly dismissive when it comes to education on the internet. Some act as if learning something on the internet makes it wrong. I disagree and clearly so do other people. There is so much I learned on the internet, specifically youtube, from statics, to woodworking to something as simple as how to fix a setting on my computer. Channels on youtube such as Khan academy can help students, but I never really realized there were channels to help adults in a similar way. It is so cool to see people providing free good information online. Often times the only other place you could learn the content in these videos is in class, which is quite expensive. Giving adults the opportunity to thrive just by creating some videos is really a great thing to do. Who says don't believe what you see on the internet, clearly a lot of what we see is true and helpful information.
In this modern time more and more people are trying to create their own small business. However, very few of those people actually know what it takes to create a small business. This makes it very difficult for them to succeed. Having information on a site like youtube is very helpful to those people because they can learn what they need to do. Also since it is on youtube anyone can see those video for free and at anytime they want.
Like Drew, I have noticed how easily people divorce education and productivity from the internet. This seems to be even more prevalent with sites like YouTube, which are more commonly known for its entertainment. This article and others geared toward pointing people in the direction of useful Youtube Tutorials prove how insightful the internet can be. There are also the numerous stories of artists, entertainers and entrepreneurs who have gotten their start through posting their talents and product on Youtube. I think we all need to start acknowledging and taking advantage of the great resource this website can be.
