Alanis Morissette Bringing 'Jagged Little Pill' to Broadway
Music News | Rolling Stone: There was no shortage of drama on Alanis Morissette's debut, Jagged Little Pill – so much so that the singer is expanding her 1995 LP into a Broadway musical that will encompass all the songs on the album, as well as other tracks from her catalog and new original tunes she will compose for the stage.

Guiltily, I'm pretty excited for this. I've never really been sure whether I should like Alanis or hate Alanis. However, Jagged Little Pill was an album I heard a lot when it was popular, so in turn I know most of the songs regardless of wether they are decent or annoying. I'm interested in seeing more of a story connect them together, as this is something I often wonder about when I hear an album. I know that bands and musicians often have themes and loose plots in mind when writing, but I am not usually great at picking up on those. Thus, it will be interesting to gain insight on what this particular musician was thinking when she put out this album.
I know I'm not supposed to like Jukebox musicals, and for the most part I don't. But I'm so excited about this. I can't wait to to see what kind of empowered female character hits the stage that performs these songs as part of her story, and I can't wait to see the designs that breathe a different life into the music. This is a smart move for Broadway, because the album was so popular, and she has such a following, that it will surely sell even if it doesn't do that well in the long run. But I am confident that won't even be an issue.
