USITT Awards $26,000 in Research Fellowships
Stage Directions: USITT’s Fellowship Program has announced the projects it will fund for its 2013 program. Helene Siebrits was awarded $12,000 to study the revival of the performing arts in Cambodia after the overthrow of the Khmer Rouge; Howard Kurtz will receive $8,000 to research the costume designs of the Federal Theatre Project in the Great Depression; and Anita Triphathi Easterling will receive $6,000 to study the work of the Indian stage designer Kahled Choudhury. The $26,000 awarded in research grants comes from USITT’s general operating budget and the Edward F. Kook Fund for research and development.
