A Long-Delayed Opening for an Oral History of Joseph Papp and the Public Theater

NYTimes.com: "If Joseph Papp had had his way, “Free for All,” the newly published oral history about him and the Public Theater he helped found, would never have seen the light of day. The memory of how Papp, more than 20 years ago, inexplicably turned on the project he initiated even now causes its author, Kenneth Turan, to wince."

Things like this story always remind me that there is a place and time for everything although they do not always coincide. While Mr. Papp was alive he was unable, or unwilling, to devote the time to work on recounting his entire life. I would think it would be hard to look back at one's life and be objective. With a significant amount of time having passed it now seems like people are excited and happy to be able to share his story with the world. Although I know little about him this article makes me want to learn more. I think the artistic community will enjoy some insight into Mr. Papp's life and experiences.
