In the meantime, I read comic books, made appearances at a couple of happy hours, read a chapter of a travel book. Basically, I did everything else but what I needed to do—classic procrastinator behavior.
Then I saw this:

Yoiks! According to a Psychology Today article, one of the 10 characteristics of procrastination is poor health. The above picture is the result of slothfulness as depicted in the movie Se7en. I gotta hit the gym, like, now. So I went."

When it comes to procrastination, I have had some great difficulties with it. Looking back at my life, I have procrastinated a lot and got hammered somehow by it every time while suffering from stress and mental breakdowns.. My problem partially had to do with the fact that I have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) so I had been really up tight about trying to achieve such high standards because I always fear the opinions of others. Unusually, when I was treated for OCD, I sort of mellowed out and stopped feeling so uptight. I'm rather glad that I seem to be doing better with procrastination problems because otherwise I may have some of the worst college experiences ever. I actually have done the trick suggested by John Perry where I actually just prioritize and do something that I think is somewhat less important than something else. I'm even doing right now as I type this message... so yeah give it a try and it does reasonably well The most important thing I can say about procrastination is that I always felt really unhappy while procrastinating and even unhappier when I finally decided to complete my task(s). So somehow, that eventually became enough motivation to try anything to stop procrastinating. I may stop procrastinating, however, I find that I still yield the symptoms where I fear failure and generate too much optimism at the wrong moments. The suggestions above actually hold true for my case, and the suggested techniques for overcoming procrastination actually work for me.
