JOB TITLE: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

The Long Center for the Performing Arts is seeking an experienced Technical Director. This position will work closely with the Director of Operations to establish and maintain a safe, efficient and customer service oriented technical support staff. Major responsibilities include leading the back-of-house department in providing quality productions in all aspects of the theatrical operations in the state-of-the-art Long Center spaces, as well as supervising the technical support staff and performing various administrative tasks. The Technical Director will ensure contract obligations and opportunities, personnel needs, permit needs and required supplies are met in an efficient and timely manner. Ideal candidate must have a college degree in a related field and a minimum 5-7 years of proven and progressive management experience in the area of technical direction. Additional qualifications include:

· Proven aptitude to make sound decisions under pressure

· Experience in building effective teams

· Ability to foster positive relationships with supervisors, staff, clients and patrons

· Ability to manage schedule and priorities

· Superior oral and written communication skills

· Capacity to develop and implement a comprehensive safety plan and program

· Ability to prepare estimates for stage labor and material expenses

· Capability to produce accurate production settlements
