Wow, that is one of the more complex ways of doing this I've seen, but also very cool.
I used to have a big interest in filmmaking a while ago and once made a blood effect by using one of those weed-killer pump things. I'm not sure what they're called right this second. You take the tube, cut it, plug the end with some sticky-tack and pump the blood out...then it bursts out like you've got shot. Scared some neighbors.
Still, this way is pretty nifty.
