Arts complex could reshape city's identity

MiamiHerald.com: "Surely it's a major coup for a city viewed for much of its existence as a capital of sun and fun, a lost paradise, or both. And here stands the center in all its gray, granite glory, with the 2,200-seat John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall, 2,400-seat Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House and 200-seat Studio Theater."

2 things....

first - as much as everyone thinks this is going to be a step up for Miami, I wonder how its going to effect The Jackie Gleason Theatre in South Beach. Its the theatre that used to present all the touring shows, if they all go to the The Carnival performing arts center will the The Jackie Gleason Theatre still be around in a few years?

and second - i really do hope that this helps being a bigger theatre community to miami, because the one there is very small and getting smaller. miami just lost one major regional theatre, the coconut grove playhouse, and who knows if its going to reopen.
