"A guide to Theater Etiquette the New York Way" was an entertaining read. I found Duarte's satirical style of writing a less controversial approach to sharing her opinion on misbehaving in the theater. An area where I do not agree with Duarte's opinion is the idea that in order to be respectful and to appreciate "serious theater" you need to fall in the age group of 25 or older. Not only do I disagree with this overall statement but I find it even harder to believe that Duarte's would have this requirement in the first place. She states in the article that theater is "an art form that is constantly on life support" yet would like to discourage the next generations of theater from immersing themselves into this art form. Witnessing performances at a young age may encourage them to pursue it as their career in the future and keep the world's theaters running.

Amanda Duarte’s article about theater etiquette really hit home for me. Not just because I am a native New Yorker, but because, when I go to the theater, I constantly find myself wanting to correct people’s theater etiquette. Although sometimes I find myself either chewing gum or sipping a drink during an intense musical, I find that sometimes I need to correct other people, i.e. tourists. I really enjoyed the way that the author wrote the article because it was not just prose. Duarte used humor while writing in a list to explain how all people should be better theater goers which made the article more enjoyable to read.
