I have to be honest that I was hoping for a little bit more out of this article than what I got. I may be 'spoiled' by the thoroughness of Pro Tool Reviews, however. This article is more aimed at the 'weekend-warrior' type, who isn't relying on these tools for their livelihood. Nevertheless, it do think their recommendations are decent. First is the DeWalt 20V MAX Brushless, which I have grown to just love over the past few years. It really hits all the points I think about when looking at tools, such as power, feel, price, and versatility. It is, however, the largest drill on the list, particularly because it uses the traditional boxy battery rather than the sleek cylindrical type that conforms to the handle. In all honesty I don't mind this, and I actually feel like it gives the drill a better center of gravity. The next one on the list is another favorite, the Milwaukee M12. These were found in the scene shop I worked in during undergrad, but I almost never used them myself. The reason for that was because we had the M18s, which just gave us that extra power. Don't get me wrong, they were great tools, but they landed more in the props department's hands. Finally, there is the Bosch PS31-2A, which has a similar form factor to the M12. To be honest, I have never used one of these, but I have used other Bosch products and don't really have any complaints. Nevertheless, if I am getting a drill with that form-factor, I am just going to bite the bullet and get an M12 due to its reputation and my comfortability with it.
