"Birdman" Star Lands at ETC-Faculty & Staff News

Carnegie Mellon University: A familiar 'ping' announced the arrival of the elevator onto the second floor of CMU's Entertainment Technology Center. But on this day, the door opened to release a special visitor — award-winning actor, director and Pittsburgh native Michael Keaton, who was, as usual, ready to get to work.

Once again, CMU proves that it is more than an engineering college that happens to have a kick-ass conservatory. First off, there are the alums, which are spewed forth from a variety of programs to go off and find success, which they usually do. Then, of course, there are the programs themselves, which are usually lauded as well-taught and well-devised.
Of course, the particular program that this article talks about, the Entertainment and Technology Center, is no different. In fact, it is perhaps one of the best examples of the kind if cross-disciplinary innovation that Carnegie Mellon is so good at. The ETC couldn't have been founded somewhere else, it seems. At no other college will you find the blending of high-powered tech and similarly high-powered entertainment education. In Carnegie Mellon's case, the ETC is just another playground for its talented students, researchers, and faculty to get down and dirty, applying their know-how and creativity to the latest developments in tech, ready to create the next thing to captivate a global audience.
