Insane Clown Posse cancel show over Faygo Shower ban

Consequence of Sound: When one attends an Insane Clown Posse concert, one should be prepared for a night of elaborate “horrorcore” performances, as well as expect to be doused in soda, a messy ICP tradition known as the Faygo Shower.

Oh my goodness. The Insane Clown Posse. I never thought that I would have to encounter them ever again after MTV was a thing. They are such an eccentric duo with the most dedicated following and I always find them hilariously unnerving. I never know whether or not to feel freaked out by them or if this is just all part of the elaborate act they put on. Also-- this whole Faygo soda shower thing is absolutely weird, but I understand it in a way. It's an essential part of the whole ICP experience so of course they can't go on if they're prohibited from doing so. In a way, I admire the way that they stuck to their "beliefs" and canceled the tour so that first-comers wouldn't have gotten an experience short of the sorts of shows they normally put on. Aside from all of that, I think it's so interesting that a subculture like horrorcore exists. I mean, an important aspect of being part of the Insane Clown Posse crowd is going to the concerts with painted faces! It goes to show that there's a place for everyone, no matter how strange you think your interest is.

This subculture, as mentioned by Michelle, is really quite strange and interesting. While i'm all for people having their own hobbies and interests no matter how "weird" it may seem, Insane Clown Posse has an unfortunately long history of violent acts. This is only accompanied by another unfortunately long history of sexism and racism that has accompanied the ICP's lyrics in performance. I doesn't necessarily surprise me that this is something people are interested in, but i'm also curious to know more about the ICP themselves and what the level of commercialism driving them is. If you forgive some of the provocative language, their "official" statement was surprisingly... official. It makes me think that they do have a couple ironically sane minds on their team telling them that they need to keep it together on occasion to ensure that they'll be booked anywhere at all.

HAHAHAHA!

ICP is still a thing? FAYGO IS STILL A THING? I love Faygo!

I mean, it’s pretty terrible soda, but it’s also so delicious and the “thug” appeal is killer.

I suppose ICP isn’t really doing anything for the venue that they aren’t willing to part with. I mean, I can’t imagine that it would have been a great show anyway, bringing in masses from miles away.

It seems like this was a pretty last minute cancellation. Wasn’t it in the rider? On either end? Shouldn’t the venue have squashed the Faygo bit long before they had to refund all the tickets? And shouldn’t the artist have known that this would potentially be a controversial issue? This can’t be the first time somebody has told them: “Sorry, no diet-Detroit-knockoff-sticky-gross-2bit-soda in our venue.”

I bet they wouldn’t have told a more prominent artist no, but I suppose a more prominent artist would pay more, and sell more tickets.

I bet they wouldn’t have told a non-juggalo artist no. That’s just bias on the part of the venue.
