Tomcat Helps Le Reve Achieve Its Dream
Live Design: "On March 5, 2007, almost two years since the premiere of Le Rêve, the Le Rêve Theater at the Wynn Resort and Casino in Las Vegas temporarily closed its doors to undergo a complete redesign of the performance space. In about 30 days over 200 workers carried out the design by Mark Fisher and Roger Thomas."

I couldn't get tickets for this show when I was in Vegas during winter break. But I visited the wynn and there are curving escalators that go around the show area and I saw glimpses of some moments. The production all takes place in water and especially in such a large scale area as the stage, the mood is absolutely incredible. I saw a huge frog pop out and it was just something I wished to create in the future.
That is really incredible that they were able to completely alter this auditorium in 30 days. I'm sure that's easy with a crew of 200 people but I don't think I've ever heard or seen something like that done with 200 people. It also sounds like it was quite a challenge to get this catwalk up especially when it is dead hung from 42 points.
After doing all the incident reports for Scene Fab I feel better seeing that they used 42 pick points to the steel of the building. It's crazy how much I think a lot of people, including myself, forget how heavy and stressing to structures our gear is.
yeah! Tomcat to the rescue. Poor Le Reve...It needed the help. Hopefully the redesign will be safer, and provide the show with some extra umph. Its impressive that they only had to close for that amount of time, but with ticket sales, I'm sure Franco threw everything he needed to in order to speed up the process.
