For me, (someone who is intrested in the film buisness) this makes me really excited. This makes me happy becasue I only want to move to LA if I have to. The more films that are shot out of LA and on the East Coast increases every year. There is no real reason for all movies to be shot in LA so hopefully film executives will realize soon to move to places outside of California where films are cheaper and easier to make and they can employ people out here on the East Coast.

This decentralization of Los Angeles is a fascinating process. I've heard that Toronto has had an easy time attracting large motion pictures simply due to tax incentives.

Hawai'i has a rich history of films taking advantage of its natural scenery, but the television show "Lost" does absolutely all of its filming in the state. They've had amazing success in turning different parts of the island into: Fiji (too easy), Manhattan,Wyoming, Seoul, Nigeria, and even a winter scene in London. What's great is that from my perspective there aren't a lot of alterations to the setting. I hope that many other television shows follow this model and go out to find more interesting filming locations.
