Composite decking: Ersatz plastic or the deck of your dreams?

The composite plastic decking seems like a good idea for an area that many need some decking, but cannot use wood for some reason. I would rather have a deck that is wood and can be refinished as well as painted. I think wood would have a higher resale value for the house as well.
