NYC plays many roles in local film biz boom
Show Business Weekly: "The days of the New York body double may be coming to an end. For years it had been a common preference among filmmakers to avoid like the plague the headaches, hassles and price tag of shooting in Gotham. Consequently, scenes that were set on our gritty sidewalks would actually be filmed in more affordable locations like Toronto, San Francisco and even Europe. "

They filmed RENT in San Francisco!?!?! That's so lame! What is wrong with this business? Whatever, i guess it was cheaper or something, but it still seems kind of counter-intuitive to rebuilt/reface a set in a city when you could just deal with the real thing.
