Roundabout's Broadway Expansion Draws Catcalls From Competitors

Bloomberg.com: Muse: "``There's no profit like nonprofit,'' says Gerald Schoenfeld, the chairman of Broadway's biggest landlord, the Shubert Organization. It's a phrase he's famous for coining, and it's been taken up as a mantra by many of his colleagues in commercial producing who feel that the playing field is not level. As with the other nonprofit companies operating Broadway houses -- Lincoln Center Theater and the Manhattan Theater Club -- the Roundabout pays lower labor costs than commercial producers, even as they compete for customers and charge similar ticket prices."
