Thousands of songs in your pocket: An audiophile's nightmare?

this seems to be a bigger problem but people put up with it. consumers just don't care that the music isn't studio-quality as long as they can take their entire collection with them in their pocket. I think a bigger problem is that once people buy the music, its always in a lousy format. perhaps apple should make the wav version available for download as well...but then there's the bandwidth problem...
