This is really awesome because I was able to see this tour when it came to Pittsburgh last year and it absolutely blew me away. The technical skill and design that was demonstrated was incredible. Also, right before the show started I learned that there were two CMU alum involved on the show, and one of them was Jackson Gallagher, who was the media designer for the show. It's reassuring to see CMU alum working in the field so soon after graduation, especially in areas like tour which is one that I am interested in. One of the interesting points about this article was how the show had to adapt to each venue and who the production accommodate these changes. I have to say that I was extremely impressed with the production value of the media and projections at the concert and that it was easily one of the best uses of media at a rock concert that I've ever seen.

Wow, this article really is a mash-up of all things related to CMU.. I got to see the XL Video demo when they were here my Freshman year which was pretty darn cool. And this semester I actually get to start working with CMU's own Mbox Media Server setup which is exciting.. I can't help but wonder if the fact that Jackson worked with an Mbox at school is reason that's what he specs on the road.. Anyways, Good to hear that Jackson and Jeremy are doing so well post-graduation! They really have had some phenomenal success very quickly. Anyways, the custom XL Video setup sounds pretty cool. I feel sometimes like LED Walls can get a little stale on stage, so this extra spacing sounds like a pretty cool way to add some variety into the mix. I wish the article had some photos of the LED Wall with lighting poking through, because it does sound like a neat effect.
