e-tipi: The Collaborative Idea Machine

Web Worker Daily: "e-tipi sounds like a weird name for a web-based service, and when you find out it stands for “Espresso Thinking Platform,” things don’t become much clearer. But once you find out what the app’s developers think “Espresso Thinking” is, then you start to get the idea"

This reminds me of forum sights, in particular Harry Potter forum sights in the early 2000's that discussed the conclusion of the series. People could post their theories and discoveries from the past book, gaining other people's insights along the way. It was/is a great way to quickly gain a large understanding of a topic from many view points. I really like how integrated this web site is with other social networks. I could really see myself using this. It could be really usefully in terms of writing a story - and making sure a mass of people understand your idea. Or in general brainstorming out a theatrical idea and allowing the public to help you find holes.

I was more impressed with the idea of this program than I thought I would be before reading the article. This takes other online networking resources and formats them specifically for the workplace. By pulling what works best from online sources such as facebook, twitter, and digg, this application can avoid the problem of having information spread over too many areas by focusing it all in one place. Of course, I am still of the idea that when a program like this is implemented into the work setting, we should still not lose firsthand communication, but enhance it.
