I've never really head about the Entertainment & Performing Arts Industry Conference (EPIC) before, but now having looked into it more I think it would be a really amazing conference for folks to attend, especially if they plan on going into a field that lies outside the proscenium theatre environment. I was initially drawn in by the names of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, but then I saw that the conference was much more than just that. There are a lot of topics that are covered that we just wouldn't get anywhere else, such as company management for broadway, creating 'mega ceremonies', stage managing events like the Olympics/halftime shows, and sustainable practices in the broader entertainment world. Conveniently too, it is a virtual even that will take place during our winter break, so many of us would be able to attend without interfering with production or classes. Conferences can certainly get exhausting and may not always be the greatest source of learning, this one has caught my eye and probably deserves some more intrigue from our cohort.
