Variety: Back in November 2013, Marvel announced it was expanding its Netflix universe with four new series featuring the so-called Flawed Heroes of Hell’s Kitchen — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist — with the ambitious initiative culminating in an eight-episode miniseries, “The Defenders.” Since the characters live in New York City, Marvel further noted that Gotham would serve as the principal filming location for the entire package.

I’m really surprised that there aren’t more comments on this article, because when I saw the title, with anything I feel particularly geeky about, I screamed. This is definitely one of the shows that I have been anticipating for quite some time, along with the fourth season of Sherlock, but that is another story. Unfortunately, I have not finished the first season of Daredevil (not out spite, just laziness), but I have watched Jessica Jones, and I loved the heck out of that show. So when the article mentioned the sound designer’s inspiration for each of the unique music for the shows, I appreciated the shows and creators/designers even more. It really makes want to go watch Jessica Jones again and continue watching Daredevil to specifically listen to the music, and see for myself if they achieve what they wanted to do. And if they put as much effort as they did with the other shows, which I pretty sure they will, then the music is going to be very interesting and an essential part of the series. I can’t wait until it’s release.
I had the same reaction as Alexa when approaching this article. How does this not have more comments?! I was initially drawn to the new Netflix series “Marvel’s Luke Cage” because my best friend from high school, Elijah Boothe, has a lead role in the show. I started watching immediately and before I knew it I was hooked. The technical elements of the show were just stunning and the acting was so hyper-realistic. I’m not only saying that because I have a friend in the cast. In class the other day Joe Pino showed us a video about how Marvel doesn’t have any memorable soundtracks and how it basically just rhymes with what is going on on the screen. It could be taken out and the scene would remain the same. However I feel a little differently about this one. I believe that the music moves the scene and makes the audience feel what we are supposed to feel when watching.
