Dimmer Beach: “I’m heading to the bus.” A phrase that we all love to hear because that generally means our load-in or load-out is done.
Ahh, The Bus. Our home away from home, but this isn’t a post about bus rules but rather some things you can do to pass the time on your bus.
Let’s look at a few things. It’s been quite a while but say it with me, in no particular order…

I found this article quite different from the rest, since it didn't pertain specifically to theatre like most of the articles. Instead it talks about the traveling lifestyle post load out on traveling shows. It's a goal of mine to travel on a show in this manner. Not for a living, but for the experience as I love to travel. "Bus time" would be like my recharge time. I do question however, how comfortable the bunks are and how much sleep one can actually get in them. I wonder if the travelers get claustrophobic, or just adjust. I feel like there would be nice little corners to curl up and read in though, that I agree with whole heartedly. Chill time in the bus must be cozy with games and snacks. Maybe one day I'll experience this first hand and answer my own questions.
This is nice. The touring life is often so glamorous and exciting, or at least we imagine that it is. Spinal tap really did a lot to our imaginations. Its important to remember that roadies are people too, they need sleep like everyone else, they need entertainment like everyone else, they just get it on the highway between cities. Touring is an endurance sport I think, you’ve got to know what your body and mind can do, and how to keep them doing the things you need them to do. The hobbies that keep the rest of sane on a daily basis often arnt practical to do on the road, so they have to find other things to do. I should take up knitting if I ever go on the road.
