Festival of New American Musicals celebrates a resurgent art form

Yet Alexander harbors no illusions about the popularity of his beloved art form in this part of the world. At a recent news conference to launch the first Festival of New American Musicals, he looked at the crowd, smiled and said: 'Musical theater and Los Angeles go together like chocolate and fish.'"
