Internships


Intern at CENTERSTAGE!

The CENTERSTAGE Internship is for serious students starting their careers in theater production, arts administration, or dramatic literature. CENTERSTAGE's Internship Program helps bridge the gap between academic experience and careers in professional theater. Intense but rewarding, the program is a great place to do your best work.

CENTERSTAGE is a member of the League of Resident Theaters (LORT) and operates under contracts with Actors' Equity Association (AEA), United Scenic Artists (USA), and Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers (SSDC). Each season consists of 6 Mainstage productions performed between two theaters. Additional programming includes First Look (new play readings), Encounter (after-school program), Young Playwrights Festival, and numerous community programs and special events.

  • Free Housing: Each intern is provided with a furnished efficiency apartment in an historic row home just two blocks from the theater.
  • Weekly Stipend: Interns receive weekly tax-free stipends. Interns also have the chance to supplement their income by working at our bars or in our Box Office.
  • Intern Activities: As a class, interns are offered weekly seminars on different areas of professional theater, and the opportunity to discuss productions with the guest designers for each show. Portfolio reviews are also arranged with the CENTERSTAGE staff.
  • The Inner Harbor and City Night Life: Both the theater and intern housing are in the bustling Mt. Vernon Cultural District, convenient to city night life and within a mile of Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
  • Proximity to New York and the District of Columbia: The theater and housing are a few blocks from Penn Station, with service to the major cities on the East Coast, and only an hour ride to our nation's capital.
