Film workers here straining to keep up with four movies

Post Gazette: "For more than a decade, Pittsburgh-based film and TV workers have had to hit the road to places such as Philadelphia, Louisiana and North Carolina to find work. Now, the booming Pittsburgh film industry is luring out-of-town film workers here.
'We've gone all over [looking for work] and now we're a hot spot. It's amazing,' said George Jaber, the head of the local film workers union."

A good friend of mine is transferring to Pitt next year to study film. The entire time I have tried to forewarn him about the possible dead end career studying film in Pittsburgh could lead him. It's very good to hear that this city is on a rise for creating movies, there is so much history and beauty in the architecture and land.

I'm glad to see this as I am so often forced to face the fact that most theatre opportunities are taking place in only a handful of cities. I don't want to live in New York all my life, its not my scene. Its nice to know that maybe things will be opening out elsewhere.
