CMU grads use tech expertise to start new 'Burgh business

Pitt News: "The three met at the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon where students can pitch projects as they complete their degrees. They developed an idea for a game kiosk for hospital waiting rooms and began to set the design in motion."

This is actually really cool. It's always nice to read about students working really hard on something and creating something truly valuable and useful to others in the end. It's also nice to see that this can actually happen in a local context as opposed to the University of Far Far Away.

I am always amazed by what comes out of the Entertainment Technology Center, and how these people were able to take an abstract idea of "we want to help children and create something for the medical field" and end up with a concrete product and company.

this is exactly what we are doing in my elective right now, (but with a design firm instead). i think this is one of the best ways to motivate and receive quality work out of a student. This is truly what CMU is known for; taking an idea analyzing it, and putting it into action to develop a product or service. it is encouraging to see that people are actually making it happen.
