Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center Hosts Future of Interactive Technology for Peace Conference, April 2-3
The Earth Times: "Do video games have the potential to assist the peacemaking process? If so, how do game creators incorporate social values into games? These and other provocative topics will be the focus of the Future of Interactive Technology for Peace Conference, April 2-3 at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center (ETC). This first-of-its-kind conference provides a forum for discussing the impact and the potential that interactive technology holds for peace and peacemaking."

I am, personally, not a fan of how much our society relies on video games as a source of not only entertainment, but education of some difficult material. I think that if there is a way to use this addicting technology to somehow promote peace and good values, than that would be great. I worry however, that the appeal and addictive quality of video games are attributed to the fact that you are in an alternate reality in which you are able to do whatever it is that you want, not traditionally allowed in society. I think there is a balance that must be found to use this idea to promote the positive, and i'm not sure where that is or how it can be found.
