'August Wilson's 20th Century' puts his plays in perspective

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "They may not have realized it at first, but for more than two decades, New York theatergoers were witnesses to an extended theatrical journey that would rank as one of the great achievements of modern American drama."

Something I didn't see mentioned in the article was the fact that August Wilson not only wrote plays about the whole twentieth but that his perspective was changing with the decades as he lived them. He wrote of the early nineteenth century which he experience as a very young man and the 90s, which he experienced as an elderly person.
His view of these decades is incredibly unique that way.
