Nutcracker challenge

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Ask any child who's been to 'The Nutcracker,' and you'll know it's no trivial pursuit. Seeing the magical ballet can open a child's spirit to the joyous wonders of culture -- not to mention refreshing that quality in grown-ups."

Okay, forget the quiz - it doesn't matter. What does matter is this illusion that every little girl sees the Nutcracker and her life is forever filled with the wonder of it. Well, not me. When I was vey young, the Denver Ballet came to my hometown to do the Nutcracker, and let me tell you - it was life altering. I was terrified - TERRIFIED - of the 6 foot 2 inch sugar plum fairy. I didn't know much at that age, but I did know that fairies were supposed to be small, and look nice - she was not a happy nice looking fairy. I have seriously never gotten over it. Nor have I ever seen another production of the show. I will screen any production my future children see to avoid this pain.

I have never actually seen The Nutcracker. I have heard many good things but never actually took the time to see a performance. It seems like a good way to get into the Christmas spirit, even if you can't pass this quiz after you've seen it.

i saw nutcracker twice and why didn't i get a single question right? nutcracker was amazing at first but it became so boring at the second time. i wouldn't recommend to watch it more than once.

Okay, the quiz was corny and odd but as someone who hasn't watched the nutcracker sice i was about five I got almost every question right. Which is odd since I probably couldn't relay the storyline to you if you asked me to. I do remember the multi-headed (maybe 4) rat king being terrifying. But I think to me the scariest/oddest character was the Godfather. I think all my memories are from a movie (though I'm sure I've read it and seen the ballet at least once). I think it was coupled with my days of "Angelina Ballerina" if anyone out there knows what I'm talking about. - Maddie Regan
