Ban on Saucy Beer Labels Brings a Free-Speech Suit
New York Times: "The state’s Bureau of Liquor Enforcement in September rejected three beer labels proposed by Shelton Brothers, a Massachusetts beer importer, including one for “Santa’s Butt Winter Porter” that depicts St. Nick from behind, checking a list and drinking a beer, his ample posterior on a wooden barrel."

And they say beer drinkers don't know art! This is just silly. Weare the most puritanical country on Earth when we disallow racey labels on beer. Beer! It's not like a whole lot of little kids can buy it and look at the labels. We can show women fauning over guys with beer in their hands, but not Santa's rear. Ug! Get over it!!!!!
All right, who would want to drink a beer named after a holiday figure's hind section anyway? It seems like such a silly name that I don't know who would want to drink it. Just let it be.
I can understand the ban on the santa claus bottle because it reminds me of when camel cigarettes had to change their mascott from the cartoon because it was too appealing to children. i suppose the government does have to right to attempt children to be less attracted to these types of items. however, putting art on a beer bottle seems perfectly fine. who cares if boobs are on it? i mean, everyone drinking said items should be 21 or over anyway... pornography is legal for them so if they want porn on their beer, they should get porn on their beer. - Maddie Regan
Personally I find this really funny. Sure you can complain that the label has "undignified or improper illustrations" but no one mentioned putting Santa on a beer bottle could be considered advertising to minors. Something to think about over a beer.
