First Stage is now accepting
applications for Technical Director. This position reports to the
Production Manager, and is responsible for managing the Scene Shop and a
three-person full time crew and occasional overhire in the production of an
eight-show TYA season plus other workshops and events.

DESCRIPTION
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Technical Director is
responsible for the construction and installation of theatrical productions.
The position requires a strong organizational background, excellent
communication / interpersonalskills, the ability to multi-task while
maintaining attention to detail and a creative approach to scenic construction.
Skills required include,
drafting/detailing,materials ordering, labor management, and high level problem
solving skills. The Technical Director will work to oversee layout,
fabrication, and installation for all projects to ensure accurate, timely,
on-budget completion. Hands onexperience related to design, engineering,
layout, and wood/metal fabrication or general construction.

REQUIRED:

Scenery construction and materials research
•
Engineering for scenery construction
•
Technical drafting for scenery construction
•
Determining build and paint schedule
•
Stage rigging engineering, installation, andoperations
•
Experience with automation, hydraulics, motors and electronics
•
Safety oversight for shops and productions
•
Shop and on-site crew training
•
Proficiency with Vectorworks, and MS Office
