We can learn from South Korea, where theatre has stayed open for business

The Stage - Opinion - Richard Jordan: South Korea’s strong, reactive response to the crisis, and the continued support of the country’s theatregoers, should give the industry hope, says Richard Jordan

This was super interesting! I think that it brings some hope to my life that South Korea has been able to continue doing theatre, and that they actually had an audience. One of the bigger fears about this whole thing is that even when we return to having theatre available, no one will want to go sit in an audience and risk getting the virus. I think that there is hope in the fact that they have been able to do it. I also think that once we have more widesread testing we can do what they are doing, and having a 15 day quarantine every time one person in the audience tr cast says they have symptoms. How great is that, that they all tested negative. That is crazy. I just hope that when things return to normal people continue to be safe and consider their impact on others, rather than their own personal safety. I hope that extends to people choosing to not go to the theatre if they are feeling at all ill.
