The Windy City is many times the tryout location for the great musicals to-be. From the fun-loving “The SpongeBob Musical” to the much-talked-about “Tootsie,” here are some of the musicals that have stopped in Chicago first before they made their way to the Big White Way. Sure, not all of them became Tony Award winners, but it’s fun to see how far they have come on their journey.
