The Glowforge Is Almost Here and it’s Worth the Wait

makezine.com: In May of 2015 Dan Shapiro took the stage of MakerCon Bay Area to discuss his experience designing a board game and turning it into a successful crowdfunding campaign. What few of us in the audience expected though, was that he was there to drop a bomb; Shapiro was starting a company to manufacture a ground-breaking laser cutter, the Glowforge.

Wow, I can’t believe this product hasn’t been released yet. I wrote an article on this exact product last semester and was so excited to see it in person. I can only image what this devise is going to do for the design industry. It will completely change the way people create and fabricate. The laser cutter was once a very rare product that you saw at institutions and large firms but I can imagine how this will becoming a very popular ticket item that people will pick up for their offices. At my summer internship they did the go fund me for this product and I was hoping that it would be released by the time I left but I never got the opportunity to mess around with the it. I think the first thing I would do is engrave my computer, but I will have to save that for another day.
